Between work and this assignment it got a little hectic over the weekend. By yesterday morning I felt so tired and life things needed a lot of doing haha. Even though I had planned to finish the detailed line-drawing by today, it didn't happen :( Will try and finish this along with the masking now. I think I will write a little about balance in life for myself.

Cleaning up the lines and making notes around things that I can identify are not working. Definitely needs some compositional changes like first, second and third read fixing. It all looks very organized and stiff.
Will get done with the linework this weekend hopefully. And then on to color next week hopefully.

Calling it done.
To sum it up. This spontaneous drawing and storytelling process is incredibly enlightening about subconscious decision making. Some of my takeaway from the process have been that:
— While I focus on compositional elements and graphic shapes to maintain contrast, I do not have a grasp of surface and material definitions as yet, and that translates in a rubbery feeling for the elements within the composition.
— I am more proficient with the first part of the process, namely, visual design and conceptualization and need to improve my painting, rendering and polishing skills.
— Anatomical drawings are too made up and need more research and practice.
— The dependence on lines is one way of working, but in terms of a more painterly style, I should try to start brush work at an earlier stage.
But all it all I am quite happy with the result right now. Tomorrow I will hate this, myself, the world and Photoshop! haha Not really :)

I really do depend a lot on line-art for depicting contours and shapes. Even when I try not to, it comes through automatically. It’s as if I dont know how to think like a painter — The things you realize! Need to practice more.
I am thinking in case I continue with this project, then I will lean on one side; either I will go full line art with inked details or go toward a more painterly/rendered approach. In my mind, of course, rendering always sounds more glamorous :) But I think the next 2–3 illustrations will decide the style.

Here, I added the lights and some fog and clouds. I know that the distance does not come through yet; if I push the character further with atmospheric fog, then the image becomes blurry because of the lightness of everything. Not sure how to get this right, but will keep trying.
